Dave is a county judge in local “drug court”. Monica was a middle school teacher for a long time, and she recently began setting up a sober house with the local hospital. They were very kind and gracious hosts. They have three kids. Their house was in a nice part of town, and was very comfortable. They had a 7-month-old lab puppy named Duncan. One of their daughters did a big oil painting of a cake platter, which was hung in the hall just beyond the kitchen, where a print of the painting was also hung, such that both could be viewed at the same time. I took a photo with both images in frame, because I can’t resist moments like this. I’d like to make a painting of the photo.

The ride from their house was hilly but nice, and the weather was perfect and cool. Cleveland has some great bike paths.

I stopped to rest at Sportsterz Bar and Grill in Geneva-On-The-Lake, which is a little strip of touristy shops for vacationing people. It reminds me a little of Venice Beach. It’s not my favorite vibe, but there isn’t much else. I’m listening to a bad cover band play classic rock songs.

After leaving the bar, I watched the sunset on the beach. There are plenty of sites at the campground here, so I was able to find one with a perfect pair of trees for hammock sleeping.
