87 miles

Our 3:30 am start worked out even better than we expected. We had no wind and basically no traffic for the first 30 to 50 miles.  We made it to Lindsay, Montana, which in terms of infrastructure is basically just a large grain elevator and a post office—the gas station was closed. We ate lunch on the steps of the grain elevator.

I felt strong today, like I could keep riding forever. I was feeling pretty weak yesterday, so I’m not sure what changed. Maybe the wind? The early wake up gave us extra time to play with, which I loved. 

We are staying at Makoshika state park in Glendive. Apparently this part of Montana is where a ton of dinosaur bones have been found. We might be headed out of the cattle fields and amber waves of grain for a bit—I’m excited to see the badlands of North Dakota. Maybe some buffalo?
