84 miles
I woke up to the sound of heavy trucks thundering by a few hundred yards away on the other side of the trees. There was apparently some construction project underway, here on my peninsula.
I packed up my things and headed for a coffee shop in Erie, called Brew Haha. It was in a strip mall, but I was delightfully surprised by the menu and the vibe. I talked to a group of about a dozen older male cyclists who had just ridden the park. They asked a lot of questions about my trip.
The cafe had some delicious chicken salad, and was reasonably priced. I got a slice of veggie quiche to go. The rest of the day passed sort of boringly. I was on the shoulder of Route 5 all day. I saw one other cyclist headed my way, and another going in the opposite direction. I found a small plastic crocodile on the road.
I reached Evangola State Park, finally, and sat on the nearby beach to eat my dinner and wait for dark. A man invited me to stay at his cottage, but I went to the campground and found a nice hammock site. He recommended I eat at a Burmese restaurant in Buffalo called Lin restaurant. He lives with his allegedly gorgeous Chinese wife in Cheektowaga, and is fixing up a home to rent here, in Irving.
